Privacy Policy

Korean Association of Family Therapy (hereinafter referred to as “KAFT”) values the privacy of its members and complies with the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc. and the Personal Information Protection Act of the Republic of Korea.

1. Purpose of Collecting and Using Personal Information

KAFT collects and uses personal information for the following purposes:

  • Member Management: To verify identity, confirm membership intent, prevent unauthorized use, and deliver important notices
  • Service Provision: To manage academic event registrations, process payments and refunds, and provide related content
  • Legal Compliance and Complaint Handling: To fulfill legal obligations and respond to member inquiries or disputes

2. Items of Personal Information Collected and Collection Methods

KAFT collects and uses personal information for the following purposes:

  • Collected Items: Name, nationality, email (ID), password, phone number, affiliation, position, access IP, cookies, and other relevant data
  • Collection Methods: Through website membership registration and academic event registration forms

3. Retention and Use Period of Personal Information

Personal information is deleted without delay once the purpose of collection and use has been achieved.

  • Records related to contracts or withdrawal of subscriptions: 5 years
  • Records related to payments and supply of goods/services: 5 years
  • Records related to consumer complaints or dispute resolution: 3 years

4. Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties

In principle, KAFT does not disclose users’ personal information to third parties. However, information may be provided in the following cases:

  • When the user has given prior consent
  • When required by law or by a legitimate request from an investigative authority

5. Entrustment of Personal Information Processing

To ensure efficient operation of services, KAFT entrusts the processing of personal information as follows:

KAFT supervises and implements necessary safeguards to ensure that personal information is securely managed by the entrusted company.

6. Procedures and Methods for Destroying Personal Information

  • Procedure: Personal information is retained for a certain period in accordance with internal policies and relevant laws after the purpose of use has been fulfilled, and then deleted.
  • Method: Electronic files are permanently deleted using technical methods to prevent recovery, and paper records are shredded or incinerated.

7. Rights of Users and Legal Representatives

Members may access, correct, or delete their personal information at any time and may withdraw their consent for its use by canceling their membership. Requests can be made through the “Edit Member Information” section on the website or by directly contacting KAFT.
